How to Measure Your Reins for Single Rein Riding
The S.M.A.A.R.T. Rope Reins are great for riding in many different styles, including the traditional hold. If you will be riding following Alexandra Kurlands Single Rein Riding technique the rein length is important. As such, we have provided instructions on how to measure your Rope Reins and make sure you order the correct length.
Whilst mounted and with the horse or pony relaxed, with one hand, lift the buckle of your reins to your chest. See the pictures below to help with where this point on your chest is.
The Rope Reins should just be long enough to connect with the horses mouth.
The point your buckle hand needs to go to is approximately where you would button a polo shirt to. The pictures below shows you this point from slightly different angles.
Once you have the reins at the correct length, mark them so that when you dismount, you can measure the total rein length required.
Once you have measured your Rope Reins, order them on the shop page and let us know what length you require.
